Exactly 10 years ago, in December 2014, IPPOTHESIS was founded.
Looking back at the pathway of our lifetime, we can see all the creatures we have helped looking at us. Some of them lived happily for many years, some were adopted, some of them couldn't stand it and died. But no one was left alone even for one moment.
Today, we look back and we are proud that among many things we achieved,
was to ban by law in Greece the equine slaughter along with the export for slaughter,
that after 14 years of refusal by the competent ministry we managed to integrate the European regulation on the registration and identification of equines,
for our cooperation with international organizations and our active participation in the pressure of the decision-making centers for the necessity of laws for equine protection (Eurogroup for animals, World Federation for animals),
we informed students about the value of equines teaching them to respect them explaining equines needs and our obligations to those animals,
the convictions we achieved in the courts for legal cases regarding abuse and abandonment of equines,
our participation in the EU platform on the creation of a code of good practice as well as the creation of the White Paper, a collective proposal for an institutional framework at the level of the European Union.
We are grateful to our few but very faithful friends and fellow travelers because your help kept us alive. Aid by the governent is out of the question.
On a personal level as the founder of Ippothesis, I look back and see endless hours of firhgt, pain and sorrow when death beats you. Hours of agony to be able to cover monthly expenses, mainly with my own income which unfortunately is very limited.
Most people and the media are interested for our work when an abuse case appears, through a photo or a story and they all disappear to follow the next picture and next story. Political leadership usually gets involved seriously to cover chronic problems and not to solve them.
I feel frustrated when people and organizations which Ippothesis supported refuse to help back.
Criticism is always available to rub in your face what you did not achieve, while hardly someone will give you a hand. Thankfully, there are still helpful hands.
Ten years of my life became real hard to live. But I will not give up until I achieve my goal.
And this is to protect by law the equines who are considered only as tools.
Every night I go to sleep wishing to wake up next morning healthy so as to be able to continue fighthing for our rescued animals.
Another year ends and a new one begins.
Today, the hourglass for the creation of an institutional framework for equine protection is pressing us as never before.
2025 will be the year we will achieve everything we have dreamed of to save equines in Greece.
It is a Promise to Ippothesis.
