Greek Ministry of Rural Development and Food issued on 18.4.2022 a press release announcing that a common ministries decision was signed for the identification and equines which will be immediately published in the Government newspaper.
The registration and identification of Equidae in our country is not yet in force, since the only EU Community Regulation 2015/262 that was incorporated last year according to the Ministries Decision 311/62043 on 9/3/2021 is not in force. This happens because according to the article article 28 of JMD 311/62043 competent Ministry does not proceed with the issuance of equines passports.
So, what remains is to wait for the issuance of the Official Gazette and to verify if the process of issuing passport forms is included. Only then, the electronic database for registration and identification of Equidae will be operational and the EU Regulation in force.
Panhellenic Equine Welfare Society IPPOTHESIS, along with our lawyers, we wait for the developments and possibly filing a new complaint against the Ministry of Regional Development if equines are not protected.
