In the Eurogroup for Animals Equine Working Group among the teams we work with is Tierschutzbund Zürich (TSB), which is giving a huge fight to stop the blood supply of pregnant mares in Europe. Blood is extracted for the production of the fertility hormone PMSG (eCG). This hormone is introduced into the EU and is mainly used to increase profits in factory farming to make animals more fertile.
In the 21st century such crimes cannot continue. Science is capable of alternatives and there is no need for this tragic interference of fertility in violation of the rules of nature.
A secret investigation has revealed the tortures that pregnant mares go through, how hard they get beaten because they can't stand the pain, how they suffer until they are completely drained and left helpless to die.
The Tierschutzbund Zürich (TSB) and the Animal Welfare Foundation (AWF) are calling for us to respond to this incredible brutality against these animals.
