Usually public authorities ask for our help about herds of unattended equines who are searching for food. They are located close to villages or urban areas with access to mountains.
Even if they belong to wild equines species or were abandoned and formed a herd the Competent authorities for the registration of “exploitation societies of equines” are the Ministry of Rural Development and Food along with the Directorates of Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Regional units.
So our advice is to contact directly with the above authorities and report such incidents.
All this mess will be solved with the
full incorporation of EU regulations on registration and definition of equine breeding society.
Such unattended herds are usually shot or vanished.
